Discussing IP Issues Regarding ICH Information
2011-2013 Field Survey on IP Issues in the Process of Building and Sharing ICH Information
From 2011 to 2013, ICHCAP conducted surveys in eleven Asia-Pacific states to learn more about status of intellectual property protection in the process of building and sharing ICH information. The objective of this project was to understand the state of intellectual property issues in creating and distributing ICH information and materials so as to uncover related case studies and provide a foundation for research.
Although the participating Asia-Pacific states had been active in building and sharing ICH information through documentation, digitization, and publication, awareness of intellectual property issues was at an elementary level. However, this survey was instrumental to better understand the concept of intellectual property rights, international regulations, related laws, and the current status with relation to ICH.
Moreover, the personnel involved with exchanging and sharing the survey results developed a network to facilitate the protection of intellectual property, and thus raise awareness regarding intellectual property issues in the field of ICH.
ICHCAP continues to promote awareness of intellectual property issues related to building and sharing information with communities and organizations.
